Uni-fit Handrails

Handrail systems are provided to shield pedestrians from a drop to a lower level and to safely channel pedestrians away from vehicle traffic. Handrails are designed to provide a handhold in areas including stairways, footpaths, car parks, commercial premises and industrial areas. Handrails should be designed to withstand the imposed actions arising from pedestrians and shall have a smooth, continuous surface and allow unrestricted movement of the hand along its upper surface. Traditional handrail systems typically comprise welded fittings and are fabricated to order. This results in long product lead-times and higher costs. Pre-fabrication can also become problematic when variations are encountered on-site, increasing the risks for the contractor.

Uni-Fit Handrail is the next generation handrail system providing convenience of assembly, through the use of specially engineered universal fittings to connect handrail pipes of various diameters. The multi-directional, controlled adjustment of the fittings allows raking of up to 80° and eliminates any requirement for welding during the assembly process. The adjustable fittings provide a multitude of handrail combinations, replacing more than100 fittings used with traditional pre-fabricated handrail systems. This significantly reduces inventory, improving lead-times for contractors and reduces installation costs.

The Uni-Fit design comprises a hot-dip galvanised, mild steel, cup and ring assembly. The piping used for the construction of the handrail is positioned within the cup and secured with a grub screw. An additional hole is provided in the cup for the optional use of a security screw. The cup is then bolted to a ring positioned along the post upright. Once the handrail is in position, an allen key is used to tighten the connection. The adjustment of the fittings ensures the handrail follows the contour of the site with minimal fuss. The rail cups are interchangeable with the rings ensuring all various rail and pipe size combinations are easily achieved.

Uni-Fit is available for attachment to the following pipe sizes;

• 25NB, 32NB, 40NB, 50NB, and 80NB.

The ring combinations include;

• 1-way rings,
• 2-way rings,
• Split, 2-way rings, and
• 4-way rings

Rails can be connected with the aide of;

• Straight joiners,
• 127° joiners, and
• 90° joiners

Uni-Fit is also available with the following attachments;

 

• Base plates,

• Side-mounted base plates,

• Kick plates, and

• Wall mounts
